How I Digitized a Lifetime of Photos (And Now Have Them All in Google Photos!)

If you’re anything like me, you’ve got boxes (and maybe a few drawers!) filled with photo prints from your childhood, random disposable camera rolls from high school, and family pictures that have been passed down over the years. They’re precious—but let’s be real—they’re also collecting dust.

This year, I finally decided to do something about it. I used Legacybox’s Bulk Photo Scanning Service, and I cannot recommend it enough.

📦 The Process

I packed up a huge box of prints—from baby pictures to birthday parties, vacations, and awkward middle school years (yes, even those!)—and sent them off. It can feel a little intimidating to send off all those precious images, but Legacybox does a fantastic job keeping you updated with tracking info the entire time. I never once felt out of the loop.

📸 High-Quality Scans + Easy Access

They scanned everything in high-resolution and sent it all back neatly packed—with a thumb drive AND a cloud download link. I personally just transferred them all into my Google Photos library using the cloud option (so easy!) and then made a backup copy on an external hard drive.

✨ The Magic of Chronological Memories

Here’s the part that made me tear up: I now have my entire life—from birth to high school—organized in chronological order in Google Photos. I did manually adjust dates for some photos (based on printed timestamps or just knowing my age in the picture), but once that was done, it became this beautiful, scrollable timeline of my life. And now? It’s super quick and easy to grab photos to share with family and friends.

Why You Should Do It Too

The process was so easy, and honestly one of the best things I’ve ever done to preserve our family memories. If you’ve been meaning to tackle your photo chaos, or just want peace of mind knowing those irreplaceable images are safely stored, this is your sign.

Legacybox is currently running a photo scanning sale, so it’s the perfect time to get started! I’ve used both the photo scanning as well as video conversion so you can’t go wrong either way with their services but highly recommend taking advantage of their sales. Trust me—future you will thank you.
